With events in Afghanistan, a new administration in the US and the ever increasing power flexing by China, this topic is one that concerns all of us.
We have a couple of strategic thinkers on the topic to share their views, be challenged and debate where India is and what its options are.

Admiral Arun Prakash is a former Chief of Naval Staff in the Indian Navy.
An alumnus of the prestigious National Defence Academy, Admiral Prakash has extensive experience in commanding various assets in Indian Navy, including the aircraft carrier INS Viraat.
He is a decorated veteran of 1971 Indo-Pak war, receiver of Veer Chakra gallantry award.
Admiral Arun writes & speaks on strategic & maritime affairs.
Dr. Mohan Guruswamy is a writer, scholar and policy analyst on economic and security affairs pertaining to South-Asia in general and India in particular.
An alumnus of Harvard University where he studied Public Policy and Management, he has held various senior positions across government and Industry.
Mohan specializes in Indo-Chinese matters. Author of acclaimed books – “India China Relations: The Border Issue and Beyond” and “Chasing the Dragon: Will India Catch-up with China”.
Digitisation has been a key disruptive element and Covid has increased the pace of disruption. But what is digitisation? How do we create an environment to digitise and innovate constantly? Is digitisation nothing but a technology platform? These are some of the fundamental questions one needs to consider when a pandemic has disrupted life—as-usual, not just business-as-usual!
Our esteemed speakers will answer these questions and share their views on this topic in this panel discussion organised by IIT Alumni Association Australia as part of the Global Leadership Series leading to the PI-WOT 2021 Summit.
About the Speakers:
Stuart Davis – Stuart is a career banker and has served as the CEO of HSBC across several countries including India and Australia. He now serves on the Board of several listed firms such as PayPal Australia, NEXTDC and South Pacific Bank, and is optimally placed to comment on the disruption and its impact to Boards and financial services institutions.
David Backley – David is the CIO of TAFE NSW, he was earlier the CTO of Westpac Banking Corporation and Managing Director (Retail Technology) at DBS, Singapore. David – with his experience in leading technology change and strategy at global institutions is ideally placed to discuss on the impact to Education and financial services sector
David Brady – David Brady is the CEO of the leading Not-For-Profit organisation – Hear for You – that provides social skills for young deaf people through on-line and in-person mentoring programs. He is also Chairman of Deafness Forum of Australia, the national peak organisation leading over 3 million Australians with a hearing impairment. David has lifelong hearing impairments and has dedicated his life to improving the lives of folks with hearing disabilities. He believes that digitisation is the way forward especially for people with disabilities to connect better with other humans and lead a healthier and more fulfilling life.
The Hon. Scott Farlow MLC: Scott Farlow is a Member of the Legislative Council and Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer and for COVID Recovery. He previously served as Mayor of the Municipality of Strathfield and was elected to the position at just 23 years of age. Scott graduated with degrees in Law and Commerce from the University of Sydney. He later graduated from the College of Law with a Diploma of Legal Practice.

Raja Venkateswar – Raja survived getting educated at 3 leading global institutions, working for leading Wall Street firms and backpacking across the Amazon jungles for over 3 months. Raja is an IIT Alumni, a serial entrepreneur and has held senior management positions at global firms. Raja will moderate this event on behalf of Pan-IIT.

The event will comprise lots of fun and games for all including children. Some proposed games are Kho Kho, Sack Run, Gulli Dandha, Musical Chairs. Members are welcome to propose and organise such other games.
Peter Chan, one of our own IIT Alumni, is the doyen of bonsai in the UK and well known for his record tally of 21 Chelsea Flower Show Gold Medals, a feat no other bonsai specialist has ever achieved. He will be sharing his knowledge and giving a demonstration of bonsai process.
Delicious vegetarian snacks will be served with soft drinks. You can bring your own alcoholic drinks. All members, their families and guests are welcome.
