Happy to see a common platform to interact with fellow IITians working in UK. I Would like to appreciate Shankar for his initiation, contribution and leadership in building this platform.

It could be better if plots are more readable and dynamic like mouse hover features, zoom out/in.

And I suspect Y axis value in last plot, say number of IITians in a graduation year. I think total sample value in this diagram is not close to whole population 6000.

Looking forward to meet every one.

    Cheers,
    Ravi

Thanks for the kind words, Ravi, but I can’t take the credit for this platform. The Alumni Association started out back in early 2000’s – have only recently got actively involved.
The sample for the data used is closer to 2000 IITians – those LinkedIn profiles that I have looked into more detail.

    Hi Shankar,

Thank you for efforts. Don’t think IIT UK has been this active before. Lots of innovative ideas. Indeed, the statistics have come out for the first time. I think the earlier generation of IITians mostly went to the US so the numbers here are much less. Besides, there a lot more IITians per year now and increasing! Once again thanks for enlivining this community.

    Hi Shankar,

Great efforts in creating this platform. I have worked as a Research intern at IIT Mumbai in 2012. Moved to UK 2 months back and currently based out of Hertfordshire. Looking forward to interact with all of you. Thank you.

    Hello Shankar,

Thank you so much for introducing me to this community. Me and my wife graduated from IIT-BHU in 2014 and 2015 respectively and we moved to UK recently in May 2022.

I am so glad to be a part and looking forward to interacting with people here. I have transitioned from working in IT to working as a health and fitness professional.

Excellent analysis; both interesting and insightful. Kudos to the super IITian with the three degrees (getting one in itself is hard enough!).

With regards to the 2013 batch with the highest number of alumni in the UK, I wonder if it takes a certain time after graduation to decide to move to another country (higher learning / research / job opportunities), Will be curious to see if 2013 batch has the highest number the next year as well. If 2013 remains at the top consistently, wonder what event(s) has led to the drastic fall in the number of IITians moving to the UK.

    Hi Shankar and all,

Personally, I feel that the recent multi-city “Networking drink” or any other future IITAA UK program should be organized on the weekend, that would make participation from fellow members much easier. If not, then Friday evening could be a ‘kind of’ alternative, but definitely not Thursday. Please consider, if you feel reasonable.

      Thanks for your feedback, Ranjeet.
Will take it into consideration and maybe poll the wider community before the next one.
