    Hi,

We have closed all registrations and I am eagerly looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow at the Cruise.

At least we will not have rain, so can I dare say we have favourable weather (though some may disagree on this 😂).

With 150 participating (about half IITians and half families and guests) and a 240 minute cruise, set yourself a challenge of getting to know everyone.

We have graduates from 8 IITs, with graduation years ranging from 1963 to 2020. About 17% are women Alumni.

    Now, for the practical details:

    1. 1. Given the large number, please arrive latest by 12:15 p.m. at the Temple Pier. Once again, the boarding point is: Temple Pier (opposite Temple Station), Victoria Embankment, London, WC2R 2PN
    2. 2. There should be some of us from 12:00 p.m. onwards.
    3. 3. On arrival, please be ready for registration by showing your QR coded tickets for scanning. Each of you (and your family/guests) will be given printed Name Badges (which will be the entry pass for the boat).
    4. 4. All registrations need to be completed by 12:45 p.m. to be able to board the boat. Anybody not registered by 12:45 is likely to be left behind.
    5. 5. On boarding, you will be given tokens for a bottle of water each and the chosen Welcome Drink as per your indication while buying the tickets. Please make sure to collect them from the Lower Deck immediately upon boarding. You may then congregate on either deck
    6. 6. There will be 15 children below 18 on board. Each of the parents/guardians should make sure of the safety and conduct of their children on board.
    7. 7. Both the water bottles and the Welcome Drink can be collected from one of the two Bars on the board, in exchange for the tokens. There are manned and stocked bars on both levels of the boat, where you can purchase additional drinks (Alcoholic or non-Alcoholic) throughout the cruise on Pay as you GO basis.
    8. 8. The boat company has made it very clear that alcohol consumption is strictly banned at the Pier. And you are also not allowed to bring Alcohol aboard.
    9. 9. The boat company operates a Challenge 25 policy whereby anyone buying alcohol who appears to be below the age of 25 may be asked to provide an acceptable form of ID. Under 18’s or anyone without valid ID will not be served alcohol or permitted to consume it onboard. It is strictly prohibited for any adult to buy alcoholic drinks for anybody below 18 years.
    10. 10. Once we depart the Pier, there will be some further instructions and performances by fellow Alumni. But we will leave the majority of the trip to be free flowing for people to network, get to know each other and enjoy London from the Thames.
    11. 11. We also have a Bollywood DJ, who has a reputation for getting you moving. So be prepared to let your hair down and boogie.
    12. 12. The boat company will serve Vegetarian Cold Finger Buffet with 10 different items when it is ready. An announcement will be made.
    13. 13. We will be back at the Pier at 16:45 and all disembarkation needs to be completed by 17:00.
    14. 14. It goes without saying that you can each help by ensuring the place remains clean and clear of any garbage, waste, etc. We may still need some volunteers to help clear up before we dock back at the Pier.

Lastly, especially given the weather predictions, there is NO DRESS CODE. Dress suitably for the weather, make sure you jacket for managing the breeze if required, have footwear that is sensible for a boat trip. Have hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc as per your personal preference.

Other than these, we are all set to go have some fun tomorrow.

    Regards,

    Ajay Chaudhary

    Chair, IITAAUK
