IIT Bhilai and NHRC discuss collaboration on human rights, AI and environment
During a visit to IIT Bhilai, National Human Rights Commission Special Monitor Prof Kanhaiya Tripathi urged that human rights and environmental studies be built into the core curriculum for engineering and science students, calling for greater focus on gender equality, social awareness and student wellbeing. He proposed formal MoUs linking IIT Bhilai, the NHRC and other academic institutions, and suggested renaming the institute's existing Happiness Club as the "Human Rights and Happiness Club." IIT Bhilai Director Prof Rajiv Prakash and the institute's deans briefed him on ongoing initiatives, including work on tribal development and student welfare, which Tripathi praised and encouraged the institute to document and share more widely.
