After considering 25 proposals, we are pleased to announce that four charities have been funded through the IITAAUK Educational Initiatives programme.
Young Tinker Educational Foundation brings hands-on STEM learning to students through mobile labs, maker spaces and other programmes, including in underserved communities. Its Tinker on Wheels labs introduce students to areas such as coding, AI and 3D printing, helping them learn by making and solving practical problems. (youngtinker.org)
Shraddha Maanu Foundation supports foundational learning for children while helping women build education-based livelihoods in their communities. Its community-led approach works to strengthen children’s reading, writing and numeracy while enabling educated women to work as local educators. (shraddhamaanu.org)
Assam Child and Women’s Welfare Society works to protect and support children and women through care, education and rehabilitation. Its programmes include support for children with disabilities, homes for vulnerable girls, family counselling and vocational skills training. (acwws.org.in)
Gramin Shiksha Kendra Samiti works to improve access to child-centred education in rural communities around Ranthambore. It runs community schools and partners with government schools to encourage more participatory and engaging teaching. (graminshiksha.org.in)
We are grateful to all the organisations that applied. Several other projects were also highly deserving, but we were unable to support them in this funding round.
With generous donations from the IIT community in the UK, we will be able to support more charities and educational projects in future. Thank you to everyone who helps make this work possible.
