IIT (ISM) Dhanbad Patents Electrochemical Reactor for Copper Recovery from Wastewater
Researchers at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad have been awarded an Indian patent for an electrochemical reactor that recovers copper from industrial wastewater through a cathodic electrochemical process. Led by Prof Vipin Kumar of the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, the technology is designed to simultaneously treat wastewater and recover a valuable resource — a solution the institute says could particularly benefit the mining and metallurgical sectors. The patent, titled "An Electrochemical Reactor for Cathodic Recovery of Copper from Wastewater," was granted by India's Patent Office.
