IIT Guwahati Develops Two-Stage Process to Boost CO₂ Capture and Bioenergy Production
Researchers at IIT Guwahati have developed a two-stage microalgae-based process that boosts both CO₂ capture and bioenergy production simultaneously. The method improves CO₂ fixation, biomass yield, and algae recovery efficiency, and could let industrial facilities use flue gas as a continuous carbon source. It's a promising route to combine carbon capture with renewable energy generation from algal biomass — though scale-up to industrial deployment is still ahead.
