IIT Bombay-Incubated SEDEMAC Crosses ₹1,000 Crore Revenue on Auto-Tech Dominance
SEDEMAC Mechatronics, incubated at IIT Bombay in 2007 by faculty and alumni, has built a commanding position in Indian two- and three-wheeler electronics by patenting "Sensorless Control" algorithms that let engine control units estimate piston position without physical sensors — technology that now powers over 80% of the country's incremental Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) ECU market. The company's revenue crossed ₹1,000 crore for the first time in FY26, up 61% year-on-year, with ROCE climbing to over 40% and net profit more than doubling in the latest quarter. Since its March 2026 IPO, SEDEMAC's share price has more than doubled, though the stock now trades at a steep valuation. The company is pushing beyond its core two-wheeler business into EV motor controllers, generator controls, commercial-vehicle electronics and even power tools — a broader bet that could determine whether its next growth phase matches the first.
